Psychotherapy has the potential to extend beyond symptom relief to create enduring changes that can last a lifetime.
Perhaps you are feeling stuck and would like to achieve a greater sense of possibility in your life. Maybe you are troubled by the past, a loss or trauma, or you have noticed symptoms that are inhibiting your life in some important way. Maybe you find yourself struggling in your relationships, or you are in the midst of a life transition. Or, perhaps, you are curious about who you are and would like to arrive at a deeper understanding of yourself and your patterns.
Whatever your reason for pursuing therapy, we will collaborate to identify the underlying causes of your symptoms—troubling emotions, unsatisfying relationship patterns, areas of feeling stuck, addictive behaviors, lingering effects of trauma—with the goal of alleviating these symptoms by understanding and attending to their source. Psychotherapy has the potential to extend beyond symptom relief to create enduring change that can last a lifetime.
In therapy, we will explore the impact of your experiences and relationships on your life. I will listen carefully as you share your emotions, wishes, fears, and dreams, and will respond in a manner that helps you get to know yourself in a deeper way. Ultimately, I will support you make the changes necessary to achieve the freedom, fulfillment, and opportunities possible when you live comfortably as your truest self.
During the first few sessions, I will listen with focused attention as you share what brings you to therapy. I will speak with you about what I think might be helpful given your specific circumstances. During this time, you will also have the opportunity to get a sense of how it feels to work together. Following these initial sessions, we will decide on a course of treatment. Any work we do will be collaborative, private, and confidential.
